An Expression of Poems as Psalms Grace this New Anthology
Mindful Thoughts Thereof: The Plain and Simple Truth is a heartfelt collection of poetry that stands as a testament to the author’s life experiences, observations, and meditations. Author Cedric Smith examines the value of hardships and overcoming difficulties. His words are prayers for strength and deliverance from suffering, while others are psalms offered in gratitude and appreciation for the beauty and blessings of life.
Humble, TX (PRWEB) April 16, 2006 -- A poem titled Joy Cometh:
“Joy cometh in the morning when I rise.
New mercies spring forth I am no longer deprived.
The overwhelming consumption has revitalized.
Penetrating to my soul I have been baptized.
And so I give thanks to the Lord most high.
For pouring out a blessing from amongst the sky.
Deep in the night He heard my cry.
And gently wiped the tears away from my eyes.
Joy cometh in the morning when I rise.”
In words that express a deep sincerity and faith, Smith’s poems give us glimpses of family life, love, and the value of living what one believes. He gives praise to God for all things and circumstances, be they joyful and inspiring or painfully challenging.
Author Cedric Smith gives credit to his mother for her teachings and enlightenment, and to his father for instilling in him words of wisdom. About his writing he says, “Having a close relationship with God empowered me to overcome my deepest fears and freed me to express myself. I take out time to glorify the name of the Lord, for it was He who inspired me to write poems from the heart. So I must keep them plain and simple, speaking the truth. These psalms were constructed to encourage, enlighten, and provoke thought. My prayer today is that everyone who reads this book will be richly blessed.”
From Mindful Thoughts Thereof, a poem titled The Ghetto In You:
“Some people think the ghetto is a slummish area or a
bad place to stay.
But on the contrary, I feel the ghetto is how you live,
and what you portray.
We as people make ghettos, for the ghetto is in you.
Just sit back and think about it, this place once was
fresh and new.
Until you came along and trashed it out, with your
ghetto ways, both you and your crew.
Don’t you know that cleanliness, is next to Godliness?
It is how you present yourself, and what you say.
So, until you kick them ghetto ways back into outer
space; it will remain in you, its hiding place.”
