Detroit, MI (PRWEB) April 16, 2006 -- Librarian and first time author Vince Prygoski tells the incredible story of the Detroit Shock in his book, “Worst to First, Or, a ‘Shock’ing tale of women’s basketball in Motown.”
“The Detroit Pistons and men’s basketball in general have been the subject of countless books, and now it is time for the women to get some more attention.” says Prygoski. “In particular, the history making achievement of the Detroit Shock is a story that needs to be told. They finished the 2002 season with the worst record in the WNBA, then made a most dramatic turnaround to win the league championship in 2003.”
Led by great players like Swin Cash, Deanna Nolan, Cheryl Ford and Ruth Riley, and coached by Pistons legend Bill Laimbeer, the Shock knocked off the defending champions from Los Angeles in a thrilling three game final series. This book details the entire history of the Detroit Shock through the 2003 season, and also includes background information on women’s basketball.
Author Vince Prygoski grew up in Wyandotte, Michigan and attended Central Michigan University and the University of Michigan. He currently lives in Gaines, Michigan and works in Flint, Michigan as a librarian. In addition to sports, he also enjoys rock and blues music including that of the Grateful Dead and Bob Dylan.
“Worst to First, Or, a ‘Shock’ing tale of women’s basketball in Motown” is available as a $5.00 e-book from www.outskirtspress.com/worsttofirst or as a $13.95 paperback from Barnes and Noble and Amazon.
