A Personal Selection of Poems and Drawings from 50 Creative Years as a Professional Artist and Poet
Many of the poems in this book have been published and are prize winners. The more than 105 line and dry brush drawings include a multitude of themes, symbols and motifs the artist has incorporated in his ceramic pieces and illustrations.
Richmond, VA (PRWEB) April 16, 2006 -- This book can be enjoyed and appreciated for the artwork alone. The poetry is divided into themes ranging from family to philosophical. As example, one section is devoted to vegetables and birds, another to sports, one to creative people including a brilliant tool and die maker.
The reader will find a part of his soul and life in some of these poems. The art work is another side of this creative writer. Consider the fact that many artists as Picasso, Michelangelo and Schiele wrote poetry.
Saul Kaplan was born, raised and educated in New York City. There he obtained two master degrees in art, studied with Hans Hofmann as a scholarship student and taught art. He was president of The Fresh Meadows Poets which served as a study group and presented poetry readings. Mr. Kaplan has shown and sold his ceramics and paintings and sculptures in most of the large cities in the United States. Presently he lives in central Virginia.
This book is over 8 ½ by 11 so the drawings can be reproduced more effectively. Besides the drawings there are 86 poems ranging from philosophical to humorous. You can hear the author read one of these poems on the publishers website
