About Woodworm: (http://www.woodworm.co.za)
Joe Sillett and his father Bob began re-shaping an old cricket bat riddled with woodworm in August 2001. The result was the first ever “Wand” cricket bat. Convinced that the bat offered something unique, Joe used it in a club game and scored 142 not out. The Woodworm Cricket Company was born.
“My goal has been to create a revolutionary bat”, says Joe, “one which not only would appeal to the eye as something entirely new, but offer real playing and performance benefits. The prototype was taken to three leading international bat manufacturers. From these, we chose a company, who could bring traditional manufacturing craftsmanship to our innovative thinking. I am delighted that the bat has received full approval from all the cricketing authorities”.
Two of the worlds most recognized and leading batsmen endorse the bats, the big-hitting English batsmen—Andrew Flintoff and Kevin Pietersen. Woodworm has had tremendous success since the launch of the brand and is one of the fastest growing sports brands in the world today.
