Knockout Pest Control Enters Home Inspection Business
Knockout Pest Control, one of the largest pest control companies in the New York metropolitan area, is drawing on its 30-years of experience and its well-known brand to launch a new service, Knockout Home Inspections. The move comes as New York State begins the licensing of home inspectors.
Uniondale, NY (PRWEB) April 19, 2006 -- Knockout Pest Control, one of the largest pest control companies in the New York metropolitan area, is drawing on its 30-years of experience and its well-known brand to launch a new service, Knockout Home Inspections.
The launch of the new service comes as a new New York State law designed to weed out non-professionals takes effect. Knockout already offers the largest, most-well-trained termite inspection staff in the metropolitan area and will offer homebuyers a recognizable name they can trust.
The Home Inspection Professional Licensing Act, which took effect Dec, 31, 2005, imposes standards on inspectors of residential buildings with one to four units, except for new construction. Until the enactment of the law, home inspectors in New York were unregulated, and as a result, anyone with the interest or desire could establish a home inspection business. That included people with little or no training in residential building codes or construction standards, real estate professionals said. The licensing requirements include a high school diploma, approved training, an exam and abiding by a code of ethics.
“For the most part home inspection is a mama and papa business, one- and two-man outfits,” said Arthur Katz, president of Knockout, which since its establishment 30 years ago has grown into a multi-million-dollar service provider with 40 full-time employees serving Long Island, New York City, Westchester County and Rockland County. “We believe we can pick up significant market share.”
Knockout’s experienced, New York State licensed and certified home inspection professionals look at every aspect of a home, including the concrete foundation, the integrity of window seals, drain lines and plumbing, the safety of the electrical systems and the reliability of the roof and structure and will provide a home buyer with all the necessary facts in a report that is available online within 24 hours.
In addition to its state license, Knockout Home Inspections holds a certification from The National Association of Certified Home Inspectors.
The pest control giant is backing its entry into the new arena with an e-mail, print and direct-mail advertising campaign geared largely to residential real estate brokers. The firm also is offering an introductory rate of $350 for an inspection. In addition the normal fee of $95.00 for the termite inspection is included at no extra charge. The regular rate ranges from $500 to $700, depending on the size of the house.
Established in 1975 with the purchase of a small Nassau County exterminating company, Knockout Pest Control has since grown into a New York metro area leader in pest control management.
