PRWeb, the Internet's leading direct-to-consumer press release newswire, today announced the completion of 200 podcast episodes in the first 60 days of its new press release podcasting service. The company has recently expanded its podcast production team to meet customer demand for the service.

"Customer demand for the service seems to be matched by listener demand. PRWeb has tracked over 30,000 podcast episode downloads during the same time period," noted Andrew Schlichting, PRWeb's Web 2.0 Content Manager.

Podcast episodes are available in four formats, including MP3 (define: MP3) OGG (define: OGG), Audible's AA format and the iPod and iTunes friendly M4a (define: M4a) format. The M4a format allows the PRWeb team to enhance each podcast episode with images and web links. PRWeb makes use of every available tagging mechanism to make sure that each episode is optimized for major search engines and the new breed of podcast search engines.

"When I heard that PRWeb was going to be offering free podcasting for press releases with a $200 upgrade as a value-added service, I knew we had to try it out. What I didn't know was how impressive the results would be. Not only did the PRWeb Pod Crew add great intro and outro music, they also did a great job editing content of the interview, making it sound very professional. I've talked to our PR team and this is a no-brainer to offer to our clients," said Lee Odden of TopRank Online Marketing and Misukanis & Odden Public Relations.

Featuring recorded interviews about PRWeb press releases, the PRWebPodcast™ service brings news releases to life. PRWeb staff members will visit with users and/or their clients and discuss their news in a brief five- to seven-minute telephone interview. The PRWeb team then creates a recording through an in-house production process that makes the PRWeb client the centerpiece of the podcast. Once production is complete, PRWeb promotes the podcast episodes on PRWebPodcast and elsewhere on the Internet with the same expertise it deploys to promote press releases.
