A rustic-style decorator’s dream and a hunter’s delight, this 2000 item auction includes rustic décor items, cowboy and Indian artifacts and over 700 native and exotic taxidermy mounts from private collections of famous big game hunters and museums. Full size bears, rare Jaguar, Lion, Longhorn, Buffalo, Big Horn Sheep, 10' Giraffe head and neck pedestal mount, hide and horn furniture and chandeliers and huge bronze animal statues.

Impress your friends or customers with a rare full-size Jaguar, Grizzly Bear or African Lion in your trophy room or foyer. These are a few of the 700 native and exotic taxidermy mounts being offered to the general public at the World Class Big Game Trophy & Western Auction on Friday, April 21st and Saturday, April 22nd in Fort Worth. The auction includes rustic décor items, cowboy and Indian artifacts and taxidermy mounts from several estates and private collections of famous big game hunters and museums.

The Jaguar, rarest of all the animals offered, crouches with an intimidating snarl over rocky terrain. Offered only to Texas residents by law, the animal is one of several rare items up for bid. “I haven’t seen one of these in 5 years,” said John Brommel, sale organizer. “We have some very unusual items and the best variety of sheep mounts every offered due to the addition of a large private collection.”

With a showroom filled with thousands of items from apartment-sized Whitetail Deer head mounts to big ranch-sized Longhorns and Buffalos, the auction will be a rustic-style decorator’s dream and a hunter’s delight. Decorator items in the auction include numerous bronzes, such as a mammoth life-sized Elk, hide rugs like Jaguar, Polar Bear and Zebra, metal art, horns, wooly chaps, spurs, trunks, antler chandeliers, hide and horn lamps, tables and furniture suitable for a ranch home, restaurant or cabin. Other pieces to be auctioned are coins, firearms, snake skins, African shields, carvings, masks and spears.

The collection of taxidermy mounts, with a number record book and museum animals, also includes a full body Marco Polo Sheep, Baboon and Nile Lechwe, and other exotics such as Thompson Gazelle, Springbok, Lynx, Sable, Lion, Giraffe and Hippo. Natives represented are Moose, Raccoon, Beaver, Coyote, and Armadillo, plus many more. The animal kingdom is rounded out with birds and numerous fish mounts such as Baracuda, Largemouth Bass and Marlin. “The mounts may not include bragging rights, but a person can make a quite a statement with these unusual items,” said Brommel.

Preview is Thursday, April 20th from 1-7 and Friday, April 21st from 10-12 pm. The auction is being held on Friday, April 21st, 12-7 pm and on Saturday, April 22nd starting at 10 am at the Will Rogers Memorial Center, 1 Amon Carter Square, Exhibits Building 1 in Fort Worth.
