The five-day course explores the fundamental principles of programming with PHP 5, then guides the student through the rigors of the advanced features. Using the Big Nerd Ranch website as a base for instruction, students begin by building the public face to the website, utilizing PHP in conjunction with PostgreSQL and MySQL for the underlying framework. Students integrate cascading style sheets for layout design, email functionality, and generate HTML forms such as those in the PEAR::HTML_Quickform library. As mastery develops, students progress to security and sessions, building the content management aspect to an advanced website, and adding advanced action-based systems including registrations, electronic payments and travel interfaces. While the Big Nerd Ranch site provides the model, the class is self-paced to accommodate a range of experience and students are encouraged to bring their own real-time challenges to class for issue resolution.

Develop Your Web Presence at PHP 5 Bootcamp, July 24-30, 2006.

PHP 5 Bootcamp returns to the Big Nerd Ranch July 24-30, 2006 with master instructor, Mark Fenoglio. This Bootcamp, designed specifically for the needs of web developers and system administrators, presents one of the most dynamic and pivotal web development languages available on the market. Web masters and project managers seeking a dynamic solution for their development and internet needs are turning to PHP 5 for its active open source community and extensive capabilities. Eliminating the need for template-based websites while providing the complexity and depth of other dynamic scripting languages, PHP 5 has the ability to elevate websites to an advanced level and create a database-driven enterprise web solution.

"PHP 5 is such a brilliant language that incorporates so many of the advanced elements people associate with other web-based scripting languages into a neatly designed, open-source language," commented Bootcamp instructor, Mark Fenoglio. "It interfaces elegantly with other technologies such as XML, pdf and CSS to help the developer create professional web applications. Even if you're an advanced web developer, PHP 5 can provide a sophisticated alternative to methods currently being used to advance your enterprise needs."
