National Mobile Television Announces All New HD Mobile Broadcasting Unit

HD11 will appear at NAB 2006 before its May 20th debut.

Torrance, CA (PRWEB) April 21, 2006 -- At NAB 2006, NMT unveils their latest Hi-Definition mobile production unit, HD11. Integrated by Venue Services Group (VSG), a leading broadcast systems integration firm, and trailer built by Gerling and Associates, HD11 defines engineering excellence and functionality in a 53’ expando unit. Designed for quick deployment, and reduced setup time, HD11 is ready for any broadcast in one day.

At the heart of the new HD11 is a 448x512 Wideband router which serves all AV sources throughout the truck. Since the entire truck is router based, this virtually eliminates the need for manual patching, although a traditional patch bay and distribution is still included. This allows for crews to save set-up data to disk for easy re-setup. For example, HD11 is slated to handle NCAA Football on ESPN in the fall, but will also handle midweek business. Upon returning to the next football broadcast, the crew simply loads in their settings file, and a large percentage of their set-up work is complete.

In addition, this inventive router based setup allows individual crew areas to manage their own setup, without the supervision of an EIC. For example, the Tape room crew can easily setup their monitoring and routing, and store this data for the same exact setup for an entire season of broadcasts.

HD11 is also unique with its nearly full length 51’ expando side in a 53’ truck. This provides for larger interior space, including a production crew friendly three tiered production room with a fully HD, fully color monitor wall. The innovative floorplan maximizes space in the areas that need it most.

“With the development of HD11, we continue our tradition of excellence and industry leading mobile production technology. The entire square footage of the truck is engineered with the end-user in mind delivering ease of use, ease of setup and easy access to state of the art equipment,” says CEO Mark Howorth.

Key equipment integrated into HD11 include the 448x512 Wideband router which feeds all major sources for HD, SD 16x9 and SD 4x3; GVG Kalypso HD Switcher with 90 inputs, Chyron Hyper LEX Graphics, Abekas Dveous/MX Dual Twin DVE, 264 HD Sony Color LMD 9050 Monitors and 6 Sony HD 20” Monitors, dedicated audio computer and comms patching station, Calrec Alpha Audio Console. Cameras include 10 LDK 6000’s, 10 HDTV Base Stations and 8 Super Expanders and Lenses with camera support for up to 24 internal cameras and 40 overall. Although the equipment list is extensive, practical use of all the interior space keeps everything-in-one-place to eliminate the need for a B-Unit. In addition, all equipment is accessible from the rear with full height access doors on the street side of the truck.

“There are many bells and whistles designed into the truck. We are the first HD unit to offer full LCD HD monitoring. With the addition of the LCDs we were able to shave off roughly 3,500 hundred pounds adding to the versatility of the truck. We have integrated innovative design with our power systems and even in lighting.” says VP of Engineering John Kemps.

HD11 is scheduled for its inaugural broadcast May 20th, 2006. Scheduled events also include ESPN NCAA Football, ESPN MLB, NESN and Winnercomm.
