QSI Corporation, manufacturer of operator interface and mobile data terminals, announces the availability of its new TREQ™ mobile data terminal (MDT) running Windows® CE 5.0. Designed as a flexible, general-purpose mobile data terminal for use in commercial vehicles, the TREQ offers the latest embedded technologies in a rugged and economical package.

"Initial demand for the TREQ has exceeded our expectations," says Jim Elwell, President of QSI. "We are pleased the market is validating our product design."

"Vehicle systems integrators and application developers need a reliable, powerful and rugged platform for their in-vehicle applications," adds Tyler Phillips, Vehicle Product Manager at QSI. "In designing the TREQ, we have focused on this need while being mindful of the need for economy. We are confident the TREQ is the ideal device for a broad range of in-vehicle implementations, including AVL/CAD, mapping, diagnostics, vehicle systems monitoring and control, and many others."

The TREQ features a bright, 178 mm (7") TFT WVGA display with an analog resistive touch screen. Seven programmable, elastomeric function keys and a multi-directional cursor control key add to the functionality of the vehicle terminal. The TREQ features two USB ports and two serial ports, allowing connections to a wide variety of peripherals and other systems. The TREQ is powered by the AMD Geode (x86) GX500 processor, and includes 128 Mbytes RAM and 256 Mbytes compact flash.

Available options for the TREQ include an embedded 12-channel GPS receiver, a GSM/GPRS/EDGE modem, 10/100 Base-T Ethernet, 802.11b wireless Ethernet, J1708/1939 interfaces, and digital I/Os.

The TREQ enclosure is made from a rugged, automotive-grade polycarbonate blend that will withstand the demanding environments found in commercial vehicles. Four threaded studs on the back of the case accommodate a wide variety of industry-standard vehicle mounts. Private labeling and customization of the TREQ is available.

In addition to production quantities of the TREQ, TREQ Developer's Kits are also available. The TREQ Developer's Kit includes all the hardware and tools required to begin porting or developing software for the device.
