Royal Mail Discounts Satisfy ISB Initiative

Integrated Document Solutions (IDS), a leading UK supplier of document production, print room and IT products and services, has announced a money saving solution to enable UK Government authorities and agencies to take advantage of the Treasury and Cabinet Office’s Invest to Save Budget (ISB).

Ilminster, UK (PRWEB) April 23, 2006 -- Integrated Document Solutions (IDS), a leading UK supplier of document production, print room and IT products and services, has announced a money saving solution to enable UK Government authorities and agencies to take advantage of the Treasury and Cabinet Office’s Invest to Save Budget (ISB).

IDS can provide Government with a central print and mail system called MailSort On Demand to significantly reduce postage overheads and satisfy the ISB’s ethos to ‘create sustainable improvements in the capacity to deliver public services in a more joined up manner’.

“By using MailSort On Demand to receive mail data from multiple offices and departments or even different authorities and agencies, process it and distribute to a central mailroom, the postage savings offered by a Royal Mail bulk mail discount service can be gained,” states Mark Williams, Marketing Coordinator for IDS. “It is unlikely individuals can reach the minimum mail quantity of 1000 required by the Royal Mail, but by combining correspondence from other sources, this number can be reached more easily.”

Many UK Government authorities already use Royal Mail discount services such as MailSort and WalkSort for posting CTAX and NNDR paperwork to citizens. The proposed IDS solution enables the same authorities to post their day-to-day mail in the same way.

“By integrating MailSort On Demand, huge sums of money can be saved,” comments Mark. "Furthermore, detailed accounting reports can be generated so anyone involved in the centralised print and mail partnership can have their mail usage itemised and billed separately."

The concept of merging print and mail operations can also be applied to any business and organisation operating multiple offices or departments. “If you can accumulate enough UK mail in a single run to meet the Royal Mail’s requirements, it is likely you will qualify for up to 34% postage discount,” adds Mark.

MailSort On Demand has already been proven in the private sector and has reduced the postage overheads of a number of IDS’ corporate customers, including outsourcing specialist, Atos Origin, who saved a staggering £58,000 for their very first mailing – an immediate ROI!

Despite Government authorities and agencies being encouraged to cut costs and operate in a more joined up manner, many have overlooked the benefits that can be gained from using a Royal Mail discount service when posting day-to-day mail from multiple sources. “Government is literally throwing money away with every letter it posts,” states Mark. “Instead of axing jobs or curbing equipment budgets, management should start to count the cost of its postage spend and realise a few pence saved on every item of mail can amount to a considerable annual saving for all those involved in an ISB partnership.”
