Lancaster, Penn. (PRWEB) April 23, 2006
Thornberry Ltd. of Lancaster, Pennsylvania and FGA Software Solutions of Piscataway, New Jersey today announced that Essex Valley VNA has officially adopted and begun using power2, a clinical Point of Care and financial information management system for home care agencies. Essex Valley VNA is part of the New Community Corporation in Newark, NJ and provides home healthcare services to Newark residents.
Twenty-five Essex nurses and therapists are now using new touch screen notebook computers to chart in their patients’ homes. Previously Essex Valley was using a paper-based clinical system in combination with FGA’s standalone financial management application PROPHIT. Staff were required to manually enter data into the financial system.
Recently appointed Executive Director of Essex Valley, Janet Cavallo says she joined the agency with a mandate to introduce modern practices and new technology.
“Like all homecare agencies facing Pay-for-Performance, we need to create new efficiencies and drive productivity. The agency already had a financial component that staff were very satisfied with and that worked well. Deciding to consider power2, the new combined POC and financial system from FGA and Thornberry, was not hard.”
“We were particularly impressed by the multidisciplinary problem list that power2 offers, and we expect that function alone to considerably improve communication and performance by clinical staff.”
“We had the opportunity to talk with several other users of the technology, as well as conducting a site visit. The response was overwhelmingly positive, not just in terms of the product but also, very importantly, in terms of customer service.”
“Existing customers of Thornberry and FGA also mentioned their ongoing involvement in product development. Clearly the ability to actively influence which functions and capabilities will be developed next is highly desirable.”
“We are very pleased to continue helping Essex Valley to grow as part of the Thornberry-FGA client family and equally excited at the benefits we know power2 will bring to their agency,” said Frank Giannantonio, President of FGA Software Solutions, Inc.
Tom Peth, Thornberry President, noted that Essex Valley can expect to reap significant returns on their investment in a new clinical and financial information management system.
“Beyond the more obvious savings in paper and forms, and mileage savings that will stem from nurses and therapists being able to input and access data in the field, Essex Valley can also expect to reduce start of care (SOC) to RAP claim time, increase patient visits without increasing clinical staff, and greatly reduce the amount of staff time involved in data entry and chart review.”
