Denise Turney - Author of Portia to appear at Eternal Life Christian Academy
Author Denise Turney to appear at Community Prayer Breakfast sponsored by Sisters Network of Central New Jersey, an organization supporting breast cancer survivors
(PRWEB) April 23, 2006 -- Saturday, May 6, Philadelphia's author Denise Turney, will discuss and autograph copies of her first book Portia (www.chistell.com), a story about a Chicago defense attorney meeting the challenges of breast cancer, a story that has gained widespread praise from readers and reviewers alike. Many readers, finding a well of strength in the book, give copies of Portia to family and friends dealing with cancer. Turney states, “Portia began as a series of love letters to my family. I was in my early twenties, in the Navy and traveling from specialist to specialist in effort to discover what was at the root of the tumors in my breasts. It was a very scary time for me. Writing Portia (www.chistell.com) helped me come out on the other side stronger than ever.”
Turney is also the author of the books Love Has Many Faces and Spiral (www.chistell.com). Currently Turney tells us that she is working on a fifth and sixth book. “My fifth book has as its working title What Have We Learned. Currently it is with an editor. My fourth is finished and with a series of bestselling authors and Spelman College professor for a thorough read and summary for readers. Titled Long Walk Up it tells the story of a six-year old girl in Africa who grows up in abject poverty similar to the drought that is sweeping through East Africa right now, an event each of us should move to eradicate.”
The Community Prayer Breakfast is sponsored by Sisters Network of Central New Jersey, an organization aimed at supporting women challenged with breast cancer. Sisters Network of Central New Jersey is committed to providing the needed funds to ensure necessary surgical procedures are afforded for its members.
