Low Cost Satellite Radio Portable Systems Powered by Common AA or AAA Batteries

New portable power system for more than 20 Sirius and XM “plug and play” satellite radios available from Micro Information Services Inc (MIS, Inc.), developers of the XSTAR portable satellite radio system. XSTAR systems have been on the market via internet web and eBay store since 2005. The next generation XSTAR power module has been in the field since January and has improved performance, ease of use, and durability over the original system. XSTAR enables satellite radio customers of both Sirius and XM to use their inexpensive “plug and play” radios as true live portable systems, running on common AA or AAA batteries, either disposable or rechargeable, for less than $100.

ISLIP, NEW YORK (PRWEB) April 25, 2006 -- New portable power system for more than 20 Sirius and XM “plug and play” satellite radios available from Micro Information Services Inc (MIS, Inc.), developers of the XSTAR portable satellite radio system. XSTAR systems have been on the market via internet web and eBay store since 2005. The next generation power module has been in the field since January and has improved performance, ease of use, and durability over the original system. XSTAR enables satellite radio customers of both Sirius and XM to use their inexpensive “plug and play” radios as true live portable systems, running on common AA or AAA batteries, either disposable or rechargeable. XSTAR power management technology regulates power to the radio and provides circuit protection for the radio and batteries.

XSTAR is a revolutionary concept that capitalizes on the wide availability and rapid recharge time of common household batteries and feature rich, but inexpensive, “plug and play” satellite radios. “We developed this technology to tap the power of satellite radio for everyone”, says Rosemary Nyman, President of MIS, Inc. “Customers can go portable for a total investment of under $100, including XSTAR and the cost of the satellite radio. For example, XSTAR system with the XM RoadyXT weighs less than 12 ounces, provides as much as 7 hours of live listening between battery charges, and total cost is around $99.”

Prior to XSTAR, the “plug and play” satellite radios were limited to use in the car or home. “We were struck by their small size but were surprised to learn the radios couldn’t be used as a true portable. We went to work developing the XSTAR technology to unlock the power of these radios at a very reasonable price. With XSTAR, Sirius and XM radios, customers can listen to live satellite radio broadcasts just about anywhere at an affordable price. Now, satellite radios such as the Sirius S50, Sirius Starmate, XM RoadyXT, XM Xpress, and others, can be used for live satellite reception on airplanes, trains, buses, at the beach, bike riding, or just sitting by the pool. You can’t beat having access to 100 channels of entertainment, news, and sports, while flying coast to coast on an airplane.”

MIS, Inc. has developed technology solutions in various industries since 1985. MIS, Inc. is not affiliated with Sirius or XM or the manufacturers of satellite radios.
