Sportsplex Level 6 Gymnastics Team Captures Maryland State Championships 1st Place Team Trophy
The Sportsplex Level 6 gymnastics team won their 6th straight 1st place team trophy at the Maryland State Championships sponsored by Columbia Gymnastics in Columbia, MD.
Landover, MD (PRWEB) April 25, 2006 -- The Sportsplex Level 6 gymnastics team won their 6th straight 1st place team trophy at the Maryland State Championships sponsored by Columbia Gymnastics in Columbia, MD.
This is the first year of competition for the Level 6 team. The team members are Kirsten Craft, Joy Engram, Chelsea Knight, Ciara McMullen and Amy Schools. Their first success was at the “Evergreen Invitational” sponsored by the Rebounders gym club. This meet was held at the Prince George’s Sports and Learning Complex in Landover, MD. The second win was the “East Coast Classic 2006” meet sponsored by the Fairland gym club. It was held at the Prince George’s Sports and Learning Complex also. The third 1st place trophy was captured at the “Scarlet Cup” meet held at Rutgers University in Brunswick, New Jersey. This meet was sponsored by the Rebound gym club from New Jersey. Their fourth trophy win was at the “Fantasy Invitational” sponsored by APCR gym club in Churchville, MD. The fifth 1st place trophy was won at the “Tune Up” meet sponsored by 4 Star gym club in Williamsport, MD.
“We knew we prepared well for the State Meet. It was a matter of waiting to see what the girls would do. It was a good meet. Their performance was phenomenal. Each girl did a great performance and each girl gave their best effort for the team,” said Grace Ortiz, Level 6 Coach.
The Sportsplex Gymnastic program is under the direction of Pattie Delaney at the Prince George’s Sports and Learning Complex in Landover, MD. The program consists of 37 athletes, with levels 4, 5, 6, and 7 as competitive levels. The level 3 team does not compete. The Sportsplex Gymnastic competitive program started in 2004.
