TAGSYS, the global leader in item-level RFID infrastructure, today announced that 20-year veteran of product and business development, Doug Karp, has joined the company to head its industry & logistics division. Karp will have responsibility for TAGSYS’ growing business in sectors that include cash-in-transit, Department of Defense and aerospace, manufacturing, CPG such as jewelry applications, and gas cylinder tagging to mention a few.
Karp comes to TAGSYS following an eight year career at Checkpoint Systems. While at Checkpoint he led its joint RFID engineering development program with Mitsubishi that resulted in the launch of the company’s Performa line of RFID products in 1998. Karp held positions of increasing responsibility ultimately as the General Manager for Checkpoint’s Library and Access Control divisions. Karp has been active in ISO, AIM Global and other industry organizations focused on the RFID industry.

Prior to his tenure with Checkpoint, Karp spent 12 years with Lockheed Martin Corp. He holds a BS degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Rochester and an MBA from Rutgers University
