Nick Conner is one of The Masters of Success interviewees. He discusses team performance, leadership and measurable success.

Nick Conner, vice president for program development and chief operations officer of TeamBuilders, has co-authored a book which aims to help people be more successful in business and in life.

Conner is one of the interviewed experts / co-authors in good company with Ken Blanchard, author of The One Minute Manager; Jack Canfield, co-founder of Chicken Soup for the Soul; and John Christensen, author of Fish! Tales authors who all contributed to The Masters of Success, published by Insight Publishing.

“In The Masters of Success, we talk about a number of techniques and ideas aimed at encouraging people to think outside the box and forge new paths to success,” Conner said. “It’s packed full of insights that can help anyone become more inspired and better at what they do.”

The book is written in a give-and-take interview style. The interviews with Conner and his three co-authors were conducted by David E. Wright, president of International Speakers Network.

In one section, Conner describes leadership as an art.

“As leaders we are challenged with getting our teams to want to do, want to be, and want to perform their best at the highest level of commitment,” Conner says. “This includes understanding the ‘whys’ of their business and sharing in the outcomes…. in order for leadership to support and motivate a team, they must be clear what a team is.”

Conner also explains in the book that programs offered by his company, TeamBuilders, are always custom-designed to fit the exact needs of its client companies.

“Actually, all programs have to be customized because each organization and each team operates in different cultures with different needs and different desired outcomes,” Conner says.

Whatever the program, Conner said, results need to be measurable. TeamBuilders programs contain three major component; activity, measurement and execution.

“All training really should have a level of measurement to it,” Conner said. “…it’s one thing to qualitatively walk away feeling good about the progress of your group; having an action plan supported by data is another. We always tell clients that our sessions must be processes rather than events, and that good development programs must be measurable.”

The Masters of Success is available from Amazon for $19.95. A link to Amazon can be found on the TeamBuilders website at http://www.TeamBuilders.com.
