NCI, the recognized authority on supply chain innovations for the healthcare industry, announces Dr. Roice D. Luke as the keynote speaker at NCI’s IDN Summit & Expo, September 6-8, to be held in Orlando, Florida.
Dr. Luke’s keynote address will examine the integrated/regional health care system as an emerging structural imperative for health care system design, both internationally and in the U.S. It will identify, compare and contrast the variety of integrated models in the U.S. to regionalized health care systems in Canada, England, Australia, New Zealand, France, Sweden, and a number of other countries.
The central argument of Dr. Luke’s presentation is that integrated/regionalized models of health services organization will shape health care delivery for much of this century. Therefore, industry and governmental leaders must place this important organizational form at the forefront of strategic thinking and policy analysis.
Attendees will learn:
- How the evolving integrated/regional provider models fit within governmental policy frameworks in the U.S. and internationally
- The rationale for clustering, planning, and managing providers regionally
- How the integrated/regional models are changing the definition and role of hospitals
- The diversity of models in the U.S.
- How U.S.-based integrated health care systems compare with regional health care systems internationally.
Dr. Roice D. Luke is a professor in the nationally-ranked Department of Health Administration at the Virginia Commonwealth University. A specialist in health care system strategy and policy, Dr. Luke has authored numerous publications and has been an active speaker on a wide range of topics focused on the changing health care industry.
After studying health care systems and markets nationally for over two decades--which included a six-year, corporately-funded study of the rapidly changing health care systems and markets in the mid 1990s--Dr. Luke published the book, "Healthcare Strategy: In Pursuit of Competitive Advantage" (published by Health Administration Press).
He is currently studying integrated and regional health care systems around the world in preparation for writing his next book, entitled: "System Transformation: USA and International Strategies in Healthcare Organization and Policy".
"We’re excited to have Dr. Luke keynote this year’s IDN Summit & Expo," said Greg Firestone, CEO of NCI. "The theme of his presentation is very timely as health systems struggle with economic efficiencies in their supply chain while focusing on quality patient care. I’m very confident Dr. Luke’s insights will be well received by attending executives from some of the largest U.S. health systems, suppliers and Group Purchasing Organizations (GPO’s)."
Dr. Luke’s keynote address will kickoff two days of relevant education and networking at the IDN Summit & Expo, the health industry’s most popular event for key stakeholders of healthcare’s supply chain.
