Rockville, Md. (PRWEB) April 27, 2006 -- Ariadne Genomics, Inc. today announced that Institut Curie (Paris, France) has licensed PathwayStudio®, the company’s scalable software solution for the visualization and analysis of biological pathways and gene regulation networks. This software will be used for the investigation of tumoral development, tumor classification and treatment customization at the Institut’s Cancer Research Center.

“PathwayStudio will be utilized in our research projects aimed at understanding and stopping tumoral progression, in particular for the elucidation of the biological pathways that are responsible of cell deregulation, such as perturbation in apoptosis, proliferation, and differentiation,” commented Emmanuel Barillot, Director of Bioinformatics at Institut Curie. “One of our main purposes is to better classify, diagnose and prognose tumors, and to adapt treatments to individual patients.”

PathwayStudio (formerly known as PathwayAssist) enables life scientists to identify relationships among proteins, small molecules, cell processes and treatments, and automatically extract relevant biological interactions from scientific literature. With the product’s resident ResNet database of over 1,000,000 interactions extracted from PubMed and approximately 1000 predefined pathways, researchers can easily reconstruct regulatory networks from their microarray and proteomics data, identify biomarkers, and model drug responses.

"PathwayStudio offers powerful visualization and analysis capability as well as seamless access to all PubMed data." Remarked Ilya Mazo, President of Ariadne. “We are proud to provide Institut Curie with this user-friendly and reliable analytical tool to facilitate their cancer research.”

PathwayStudio is available as a desktop or client-server solution. A 20 day fully functional trial can be found on the Ariadne Web site www.ariadnegenomics.com.

About Institut Curie:
The Institut Curie is a private foundation, with 2 000 staff members, which has expanded upon the pioneering work of Marie Curie since 1909. It has grown to become the largest dedicated cancer research center in France, pioneering an interdisciplinary approach to research and treatment. The aim of Institut Curie Research Center and Hospital is to transform basic scientific knowledge into new diagnostic, prognostic and therapeutic practices and products as quickly as possible. Institut Curie Research Center, composed of 61 teams including biologists, chemists, physicists and clinicians, works closely with the Hospital, which is the leading European center for breast cancer care, a national reference center for numerous tumours and is currently developing an intensive clinical research program. Working with these clinical and research teams is a special Translational Department which helps implement the transfer of advances from the lab into the hospital or to industry.

About Ariadne:
Ariadne develops systems biology software for life science research. Products include PathwayStudio® (formerly PathwayAssist) leading pathway analysis software and PathwayExpert™ informatics platform for the research of cellular regulation and drug response modeling. Ariadne software is equipped with MedScan™, a mature information extraction technology based on domain-specific natural language processing (NLP), and comes with a ResNet family of molecular network databases, both automatically generated and manually curated. MedScan Reader™ is a biomedical literature browser that greatly facilitates the reading of scientific text by automatically extracting and displaying the information of interest.
