Two things that go together well: flowers and poetry. Rocco Gallucci has a talent for both, running a flower shop by day and writing poetry by night. Mother’s Day is just around the corner and Gallucci finds that flowers still are the number one item Husbands and children still go to first when looking for a gift.

(PRWEB) April 27, 2006 -- Two things that go together well; flowers and poetry. Rocco Gallucci has a talent for both, running a flower shop by day and writing poetry by night. Mother’s Day is just around the corner and Gallucci finds that flowers still are the number one item Husbands and children still go to first when looking for a gift. This year he’s hoping that his book of poetry might be a great pairing for the Mom who has everything.

His poems are an intimate trek into his world, his memories, his losses and loves. Each poem speaks of powerful imagery of his home town in Italy, painting scenes in our imagination of majestic mountains ranges, local towns people, and of the influences of a culture that formed who he is.

Mr. Gallucci’s masterful use of the language, layered with an explosive truth set the scene as we follow his writings in his debut publication, Mimi Sasso Amavi, Amo, Amabo.

Excerpt:
I took a walk with Giacommo late last night
Through fields of wheat and ripe red grapes
Hanging on the vine
Which fed the pain and sorrow
Of Sylvia’s last smile

Beneath the black fig trees he muses
From time to time
Of how he longed to feel her warm soft hand
And taste the lips that gave him life divine

“Rocco’s poems speak volumes with words and phrases that give extraordinary light to ordinary occurrences. His words are powerful yet evoke a sense of sadness and melancholy in the everyday habits of a generation. Read on for that light at the end of the proverbial tunnel.”
