Dr. Paul Maestrone was elected president of the World Parkinson Disease Association during its recent meeting in Washington, D.C.
A research veterinarian, Dr. Maestrone is the director of scientific and medical affairs for the American Parkinson Disease Association, the country's largest grass roots organization serving the Parkinson's community.
Also a principal in founding the international association 1998, Dr. Maestrone previously served as it general manager.
Born in Italy, Dr. Maestrone was graduated magna cum laude from the University of Milan, where he became a professor at age 23. After being named a Fulbright Scholar, he emigrated to the United States and became a research leader at Hoffman-LaRoche in New Jersey.
Dr. Maestrone holds several patents and has authored more than 50 scientific papers.
