(PRWEB) April 26, 2006
The Volume of Silence, an innovative, music-focused Chicago based design studio, is proud to announce its sponsorship of the Seattle Weekly Music Awards. In addition to underwriting the event itself, The Volume of Silence will give away the Grand Prize and multiple give-away packages worth over $25,000 to winning fans and bands.
Merrick, the owner and founder of The Volume of Silence said, “We’re underwriting these awards this year because we feel that this is the right thing to do for musicians and for the Seattle community.”
Merrick and his staff are available to talk to the media about The Volume of Silence’s participation in the Seattle Music Awards by phone today and tomorrow from 8am PDT to 3pm PDT; and are currently scheduling one-on-one or sit-down in person interviews between April 27-30.
Proceeds from this year’s Seattle Weekly Music Awards show will benefit The Service Board, an organization which provides needy Seattle area high school-age youth with adult volunteers who provide logistical support, listening and camaraderie for six months a year. The Service Board’s tSBand, announced this year, provides a program where musically interested youth can experiment and collaborate in creating music.
Said Merrick: “The Volume of Silence is a budget-based design studio that works exclusively with musicians, labels and music-related community outreach programs. We were delighted to be able to offer musicians and the fans that nominated and voted for them an assortment of great prizes, but getting the chance help out an outfit like the Service Board was the cherry on top of the cake.
“This was the kind of opportunity we’d been looking for, and we plan on making the most of it for the musicians and for the fans.”
The Seattle Weekly will be collecting ballots for nominees online at http://www.seattleweekly.com/musicawards through April 29th, 2006 and both The Volume of Silence and the Seattle Weekly will showcase many of the nominated bands at the Music Awards Showcase on April 29th. This event will bring 50 local bands and 10 DJs to select club venues in the thriving heart of Ballard.
Attendees will have the ability to vote on-site during the showcase as well as through a variety of channels leading up to the event. Voters and registered band members have a chance to receive additional prizes from The Volume of Silence. Winners will be drawn and announced the night of the showcase.
Winners of the Music Awards and the Grand Prize will be announced at the May 9th Awards Party and in a special issue of the Seattle Weekly May 10, 2006. Details of the prize packages offered can be found on the attached sheet or online at http://www.thevolumeofsilence.com/contest.
