Thorburn Associates, Inc (TA) has been retained by Hewlett Packard to develop the acoustical design for the Halo Room at the Cupertino, California Executive Briefing Center. The Center, like its twin in Houston, Texas, will be equipped with video conferencing capability unlike any previously conceived. The overhead high-resolution, high-magnification zoom camera can share the tiniest detail with colleagues across the world. The video images are instant; the audio has no delay. Designs for privacy glass walls complete the project. The glass is electrically charged to look clear until, with a flip of a switch, the glass plates turn opaque. The opaque glass provides privacy; at the same time, the people inside are not distracted by outside movement.
Halo studios can be decorated with similar furniture so it even looks like an extension of the conference table. The studios are demonstrated at Hewlett Packard's briefing centers because this level of technology must be seen to be believed. Bringing people from separate locations together for collaboration without travel---the future is here!
To date, TA has completed more than 85 projects for Hewlett Packard in various venues.
TA is a full service design and engineering firm specializing in acoustic and technology related systems for the commercial, corporate, leisure, public, residential and retail industries. For more information: http://www.ta-inc.com/
