The students at Fresno Fencing Academy are coached by Vladimir Ostatnigrosh, who has been a professional fencing coach since the mid-1980’s in Ukraine. Here in his adopted country he is now passing his skills and knowledge to his own children and their fellow students at the Academy, where he teaches the three Olympic fencing weapons of foil, epee, and sabre.
Modern Fencing is a direct descendant of sword dueling. Unlike the free-wheeling fighting of Three Musketeers fame, the modern Olympic sport is played on a thin strip with one of three weapons: Foil, Epee, or Sabre.
