Children’s Web Site InklessTales.com Hits Million Mark

InklessTales.com, a children's web site for four to eight year olds featuring stories, games, poems and more has reached a milestone one million hit mark. Creator Elizabeth Bushey has built the site single handedly -- words, pictures and programming -- and received accolades from sources as big as the American Library Association for it.

Middletown, NY (PRWEB) April 30, 2006 -- Inkless Tales, the web site for children ages four to eight offering games, stories, poems, and other learning activities, reached the milestone one million hits this month this April 2006, announced site owner Elizabeth Bushey today.

The site, which also includes an Animated Alphabet and a Mathematical Mother Goose, features content created entirely by a single person. “I illustrate, I write, and I do all the programming, too,” says Bushey, who works from her home, and, until three weeks ago, worked full-time, as well.

Inkless Tales has earned accolades from big names such as the American Library Association, which listed the site among Harry Potter and Lemony Snicket on its “Great Sites for Kids” pages. The ALA called Inkless Tales “entertaining… and easy to navigate.” The Internet Public Library called it “an amazing site.”

Bushey says she’s surprised but delighted about the million hit mark. “I made what I like, and I’m glad they like it too,” she says. Libraries and school systems visit and link from all over the United States and from all over the world: Inkless Tales is even listed on the Hong Kong Public Library site.

The site is experiencing a real boom. The traffic statistics are showing a consistent growth rate between 30 and 45 percent each month.

“Growth is exciting,” says Bushey. “But the best part is when I hear from a kid at the feedback form who loves the site.”

Elizabeth Bushey is a freelance writer, illustrator and web developer. She is a former columnist for the Times Herald-Record, and an adjunct instructor teaching journalism at Orange County Community College. She is also a musician: Inkless Tales will release a first CD of lullabies this summer on an upcoming companion web site, www.InklessTunes.com.
