Knappogue Castle Whiskey is a real tribute to family values. From one generation to the next, the quality, care and attention to detail that goes into producing the product is reflected in every bottle of Knappogue. I am sure Mr. Andrews Sr. would be thrilled to know that both his son and now his grandson are carrying on the name of the whiskey and castle that he loved
New York, NY (PRWEB) May 3, 2006
Castle Brands Inc. (AMEX: ROX), brand owner of Knappogue Castle Irish Single Malt Whiskey, announced today that it will have a special Father’s Day gift pack for its highly-rated whiskey.
Knappogue Castle Whiskey, with its father and son history, is a perfect Father’s Day gift. In the 1960s, an American couple, Mark Edwin and Lavone Andrews, purchased Knappogue Castle in Co. Clare, Ireland. By then the castle, which was built in the 15th century, was a complete ruin. Mrs. Andrews was an architect and along with her husband they faithfully restored Knappogue which is now an historic landmark.
During this period, Mr. Andrews began collecting casks of Irish whiskey. He would carefully store the casks and then bottle them at the peak of their maturity on a vintage basis, much like fine wine is bottled. Mr. Andrews named the whiskey Knappogue Castle and created its label on which the castle is a prominent feature. The last of Mr. Andrews’ whiskey, Knappogue Castle 1951, which was distilled in 1951 at the B. Daly Distillery and bottled in 1987, is now the oldest and rarest Irish whiskey in the world.
In 1998 the Andrews’ son, Mark, formed Castle Brands Inc. and its first brand was Knappogue Castle Irish Single Malt Whiskey. To honor his father, the younger Andrews kept the label very similar in style to the original and continues to bottle the whiskey on a vintage basis. These younger vintage-dated single malt whiskeys are the next chapter in this family legacy. The third generation, Mark Edwin Andrews IV, has now joined the company to follow in his father’s and grandfather’s footsteps.
For Father’s Day, the latest vintage, Knappogue Castle 1994, is packaged with a premium quality, emerald green golf towel beautifully embroidered with the Knappogue Castle logo in gold and silver. The gift box is decorated with a photograph of the 7th green at the world-renowned Dromoland Castle Golf & Country Club in Co. Clare. The golf course is just a short drive from Knappogue Castle.
“Knappogue Castle Whiskey is a real tribute to family values. I am sure Mr. Andrews Sr. would be thrilled to know that both his son and now his grandson are carrying on the name of the whiskey and castle that he loved,” said Roseann Sessa, Vice President of Marketing and Public Relations for Castle Brands.
