Charlie Burns Joins Saugatuck as Vice President

Industry veteran to help lead business expansion as Saugatuck enters its fifth year of growth.

Westport, CT (PRWEB) May 3, 2006 -- Saugatuck Technology, a research-based consultancy, today announced that Charlie Burns has joined the firm as Vice President. He will develop client relationships, and direct research and consulting projects for the firm within the areas of software and IT infrastructure.

Mr. Burns is a seasoned IT Executive, recognized for expertise in areas such as IT vendor product strategy and planning, market planning, marketing, and marketing communications. His research efforts have focused on enterprise systems architectures, systems management and performance, the business practices and strategies of major IT vendors and the relationship between business and IT. Mr. Burns has been a featured speaker at vendor and user conferences, and widely quoted. He has international experience in Europe, Asia Pacific, Latin America, and the Middle-East.

Mr. Burns comes to Saugatuck from Gartner, a US-based research and advisory firm for IT buyers and vendors. He joined Gartner in 2000 in the role of Client Partner, responsible for improving the relationship and the value delivered to several of Gartner’s largest clients, after several years with Giga Information Group and Gartner Group as lead analyst for large systems and storage, and after a 23 year career with IBM.

During his time with Gartner and Giga, Mr. Burns developed and managed advisory services for IT vendor and user firms, focusing on enterprise IT trends (such as high-availability and “virtualization”), the future of the data center, enterprise “middleware,” and the business management of IT.
