BOSTON, MA (PRWEB) May 2, 2006
According to the Internet Standards Assessment Report (ISAR) released by the Web Marketing Association, Beverage Web sites have roughly tracked the overall ISAR Index for Web development since 1997. Early on they slightly trailed the average, but since 2002 have exceeded it. The ISAR study provides industry benchmarks for Web site development and is based on data collected from 9,748 Web site evaluations in more than 80 industries over the past decade. A copy of the full report can be downloaded at http://www.webaward.org/isar_report.asp.
“The beverage industry is very competitive when it comes to Web development and companies can benefit from the independent evaluation of their online efforts that the award judges provide,” said William Rice, President of the Web Marketing Association. “These sites score highest for design and content while they need to pay more attention to copywriting as that is where they scored the lowest. Over the past three years, beverage sites have generally outperformed each of their criteria benchmarks. Beverage Web sites are about establishing and supporting a brand online. Web sites often have a heavy use of Flash and contain a viral component to help create buzz.”
Since 1997, the Web Marketing Association has been conducting its annual WebAward Competition for Web site development. The Internet Standards Assessment Report is the results of nearly a decade of independent evaluations of Web site development based on seven categories: design, innovation, content, technology, interactivity, copywriting and ease of use.
Each year the Web Marketing Association names the Best Beverage Website based on the scores submitted by the competition judges. Recent winners of the “Best Beverage Web site” WebAwards include:

“Of course, as in every industry, there are beverage Web sites that stand out and others that don’t make the grade,” concluded Rice. “Our goal has always been to be more than just a popularity or beauty contest that rewards brand names and good design. Instead, this ISAR study is designed to return some value to every entrant with input as to what Internet professionals should strive for in their Web site development efforts in an objective, empirical and constructive way.”
