Integration Consortium’s May, 2006 “GLOBAL INTEGRATION SUMMIT” Chooses YWCA Boston as Charity Partner

International technology association rally's behind local YWCA through donations arising from their annual conference.

BOSTON, Mass (PRWEB) May 4, 2006 –- The Global Integration Summit, an Integration Consortium annual gathering of international integration industry thought leaders announces that they are continuing in their tradition of supporting important national and regional causes that focus on people rather than technology. “In a world that is increasingly dependent on technology, it may be reassuring to know that it’s still 'good old fashioned people' that keeps us all up and running states Michael Kuhbock, Chairman of the Integration Consortium. Thus we are honored to be able to support an organization like the YWCA for the third year. Technology conferences should be not only about self serving interests and more about the communities they serve.”

The Integration Consortium based in Vienna, Virginia, has chosen the YWCA Boston as their charity partner for their 2006 Global Integration Summit which will be held May 22-24, at the Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel in Boston. The YWCA will receive a donation of computing equipment as well as cash, to be presented to President & CEO Marti Wilson-Taylor at a banquet on May 24, at 7:00 PM, in the Fairmont Copley’s main ballroom.

“We are immensely grateful for the Integration Consortium’s long-time support of the international YWCA movement and for choosing the YWCA Boston as their local charity partner during their annual summit,” said Ms. Wilson-Taylor.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for us, in our 140th anniversary year, to present our housing, health, and youth leadership programs to a new constituency.

“As the oldest YWCA in the United States, we hope the individuals and corporations represented at the Summit will be as excited about the YWCA’s work to advance the cause of women’s empowerment and racial justice as we are.”

The Global Integration Summit will bring 250 international delegates who are the top minds from the technology, business and academic communities to Boston, with a focus on how to address the costly issues of data, application, and process integration between people and companies. Thus the spotlight will be on bringing real value to organizations. As the Summit converges in Boston, it will focus on real implementations, real technology, and learning the steps to build an integration master plan -- all while supporting the local community and an organization like the YWCA Boston.

About YWCA Boston
The YWCA Boston is the oldest in the country, established 140 years ago to empower women economically, socially, and politically. The call to action in community service, advocacy, and support of women is still relevant today and the YWCA Boston's ability to respond to changing times is demonstrated by its successful response to the ongoing challenges that confront women and children in under-served communities of Boston.

The YWCA Boston provides safe and affordable housing for women at The Berkeley Residence in the South End. The program offers short-term and permanent housing to over 2,500 women annually from diverse backgrounds, aged 18-90. The Berkeley is also open to men at overnight rates. Aswalos House provides transitional housing and other vital supports for homeless, pregnant, and parenting teens and their children in Dorchester. Generations Learning Together (GLT) serves grandparents raising their grandchildren at the nation's first GrandFamilies House in Dorchester. Through the national YWCA's ENCOREplus program, the YWCA Boston fulfills its role of bridging the gap between low-income and immigrant women and healthcare providers delivering breast health education and screening programs. At the same time, the YWCA enables women and youth's voices to be heard through its annual Academy of Women Achievers recognition program and Youth Voice Collaborative (YVC), an after-school and summer program designed to impart critical thinking and leadership skills to middle and high school students through a novel and highly successful media literacy curriculum.
