Academy At Ivy Ridge Hires Educational Consultant In Preparation For State Approval
Specialty boarding school, Academy at Ivy Ridge (AIR), today announced that it has hired Robert L. Guarino, Ph.D. to help prepare the school for accreditation with the New York State Education Department and further advance its academic credentials.
Ogdensburg, NY (PRWEB) May 4, 2006 -- Specialty boarding school, Academy at Ivy Ridge (AIR), today announced that it has hired Robert L. Guarino, Ph.D. to help prepare the school for accreditation with the New York State Education Department and further advance its academic credentials.
“We’re very pleased to have Dr. Guarino as a consultant to our school and to help us take our academics to the next level,” said Jason Finlinson, AIR’s director. “His experience and wisdom in this arena is outstanding and I’m excited to see our school excel further under Dr. Guarino’s guidance.”
Dr. Guarino’s experience spans 30 years in education with an emphasis in special education. From 1984, Dr. Guarino served as executive director of The New York Institute for Special Education in Bronx, NY and before that was director of education for children with handicapping conditions, State Education Department, Albany, NY. He gained his Ph.D. from Syracuse University in 1971.
Says Dr. Guarino: “I’m looking forward to the challenge of assisting the professional educators at AIR and working closely with the State Education Department to get AIR properly accredited. My passion is kids – I’m energized at the prospect of making this program even better than it already is.”
AIR is a boarding school for teenagers aged 14-18 whose parents have decided they need a more structured environment to further their social and academic interests. In addition to an academic program, the school provides seminars designed to help families re-connect, along with counseling and therapeutic programs for students.
