About Carlos Beltran

The New York Mets All-Star center fielder was born Carlos Ivan Beltran in Manati, Puerto Rico on April 24, 1977. Carlos made his Major League debut in 1999 and had an immediate impact, earning the American League Rookie of the Year Award as a Kansas City Royal. The two-time All-Star further engraved himself into the world of baseball by his stellar performance during the 2004 postseason with the Houston Astros, accomplishing a feat no player has ever achieved during any seven-game period in playoff history. His mark of eight homeruns tied the single postseason record set by Barry Bonds, one of the most prolific power players in the game. Carlos’ star potential is indisputable. Appropriately labeled a “five-tool player,” he is the type of player that franchises build their teams around. Carlos has blazing speed, both on the base paths and in the outfield. He is among six players in baseball history with at least three seasons of 100 runs, 100 RBIs and 30 stolen bases.

With all the accomplishments Carlos has enjoyed on the field, he is equally impressive off the field. Carlos and his wife, Jessica, have demonstrated their desire to help those who are less fortunate by donating over $300,000 annually to charities both in the US and Puerto Rico.

Carlos’ strong Christian beliefs and love for kids and his community have motivated him to get involved with the Harlem RBI in NY and to start the Carlos Beltran Center in Manati Puerto Rico. The center will be a place where kids can develop their talents both academically and athletically and learn that with dedication anyone can achieve their dreams.
