Beginning on May 26, 2006, residents and visitors to Branson, Missouri, will have more options than ever for shopping, dining and entertainment at what is arguably one of the most ambitious development projects ever taken up at this resort town.
Dubbed “Branson Landing,” the 95-acre waterfront complex will feature a boardwalk along Lake Taneycomo as well as 450,000 square feet of retail shopping and Branson hotel space.
Stores include the first Belk department store to open in the state of Missouri as well as a Bass Pro Shop and other national chains. A large on-site marina will allow boaters to dock for the day or for extended periods of time and enjoy all the area has to offer.
The new 220,000 square foot Branson Convention Center is scheduled to open in Summer of 2007, and will allow the area to compete with much larger nationwide cities for major conventions throughout the year. The new convention center will be instrumental in helping attract the projected 4.5 million visitors to Branson Landing each year.

The convention center itself will connect to a 4-star Hilton hotel with a projected 260 rooms. Other plans include a separate boutique hotel as well as 140 waterfront luxury condominiums and penthouses, many of which are nearing completion.
“This is something that we expect to have a huge impact on Branson tourism, and on our business as well,” said Mark Ruda, Manager of nearby Thousand Hills Golf Resort. The resort recently completed their own expansion increasing their offerings to include nightly condominium and cabin accommodations ranging in size from one to four bedrooms. “The convention business alone will be a boon to the area, economically,” Ruda noted. “We plan on offering special events to convention goers who want to take a break from the meetings and enjoy our course.”
In addition, Branson Landing will feature a town square large enough to accommodate up to 5,000 people for festivals and music events. The centerpiece of the new square will be a $7.5 million synchronized water, light, sound and fire, show created by Wet Design, the producers of world-class shows for Downtown Disney World in Orlando, Universal City Walk in California and the Bellagio in Las Vegas.
