When you consider most people use their cottage less than 60 days a year, many people are beginning to wonder if tying up so much capital is such a wise idea
Toronto, ON (PRWEB) May 3, 2006
The $75 Million dollar award-winning Touchstone on Lake Muskoka project has sold out the first phase, and construction has begun with first occupancy June 2007. Phase ll will be launching this June.
The glorious Touchstone on Lake Muskoka is set in a sheltered bay amidst a beautiful setting of rocky islands, forest and sheer granite cliffs looking out onto the most magnificent view on all of Lake Muskoka.
Touchstone will occupy 30 acres along the shores of Lake Muskoka between Bracebridge and Port Carling, two hours from Toronto. Designed to offer owners and guests their own unique Muskoka experience in a luxurious Muskoka style, the new vacation home community will offer fractional ownership in 80 two, three or four bedroom, exquisitely designed lakeside homes.
The residences, designed by Ava Janikowski Architect Inc will reflect the warmth of a traditional Muskoka style and yet contain luxury resort finishes. Each enjoys an uninterrupted view of the Lake, screened Muskoka Rooms, generous terraces and access to the waterfront via landscaped walkways.
The centerpiece of the project will be The Lodge at Touchstone, which offers a commanding view of Lake Muskoka from the elegant restaurant, a pampering spa with the highest level of services and products, fitness centre and infinity pool.
Sequel Hotels and Resorts also manage the much-acclaimed Ben Miller Inn and Spa, the Elora Mill Inn and HV-Hidden Valley Resort. Anne Larcade President and COO formerly held the position of General Manager at Deerhurst for the past six years. She oversaw its $30-million expansion and successful re-positioning the property. Prior to joining Deerhurst she was regional director for Canadian Hotel Investment Properties, which owns and manages 41 properties throughout North America.
“We are exceptionally pleased to announce that Sequel and Ms. Larcade are joining Touchstone,” says Mr. Thompson. “She brings not just a wealth of experience in the resort management field but an especially valuable insight into creating successful Muskoka luxury vacation home communities.”
“The choice of Ms. Larcade and Sequel reflects our commitment to creating the best possible team to handle day to day management of what we believe is one of Canada’s most exceptional vacation home properties,” he adds.
Ms. Larcade is well known within the Canadian tourism industry. She is on the advisory board of Hotelier Magazine in Canada and on the planning committee for the Canadian Hotel Investment Finance Conference held annually in Toronto.
Fractional vacation home real estate is a quickly growing component of the industry because it allows purchasers to match their investment to usage; reduce their annual operating costs; and in some cases provide for stress free estate planning.
“When you consider most people use their cottage less than 60 days a year, many people are beginning to wonder if tying up so much capital is such a wise idea,” says Thompson. “When you consider that investment comes with high annual operating costs and the burden of maintaining the property, owning only the fraction of the cottage you can use while someone else takes care of the maintenance is beginning to make a lot of sense to people. When people find out they can purchase all they can use of a fully furnished, luxury 4 bedroom, 2,000 square foot cottage with a beautiful view of Lake Muskoka for only $200,000 they find it very attractive.” One-eighth fractions of two bedroom vacation homes begin at $74,990.
Touchstone is also part of the Intrawest resort to resort program expanding purchasers vacation choices beyond the Lake Muskoka area.
