With the boating and fishing season about to get underway, many boaters and fishing fans look to find an effective way to prevent nausea for themselves and their family and friends. Advertising for these products is expected to heat up in the weeks to come.

With the boating and fishing seasons about to get underway, the industry is expecting to see an increase in advertising of products to help alleviate or eliminate nausea.

With many consumers looking for ways to eliminate ‘sea sickness’ without needing to take medications that can have sometimes serious side-effects, many industry insiders are expecting to see consumers look towards alternative means of eliminating or preventing nausea associated with boating and other activities.

“I’m a big fan of the wristbands,” Joseph Melillo, 36, Island Heights, NJ explains. “When I take the kids out on the boat, we all put them on. The pills used to give me a headache and I was afraid to give them to the kids,” he continues.

The technology behind the wristbands by manufacturers such as BioBands is based on acupressure technology which helps disrupt the signals to your brain that would lead you to feeling nauseous.

Many consumers find the adjustable bands, such as those by BioBands are more effective and more comfortable than similar products that cannot be adjusted.

“These wristbands are great and much easier than wearing patches,” Lisa Custodio, 32, Brooklyn, NY explains. “I wear them when I go to Coney Island to ride the rides and anytime I go on a boat or a cruise,” she continues.

BioBands, maker of the FDA cleared, patented adjustable wristbands, and other companies are expecting to see a surge in sales in 2006 as more Americans are expected to stay closer to home as a result of soaring gas prices, meaning an increase in fishing boat bookings and theme park sales among other activities.

The safe and effective wristbands are becoming popular with men, women and children looking to prevent the feeling of sea-sickness while not being forced to take medications or wear unsightly or uncomfortable patches.

Designed and patented by an American Board Certified obstetrician and gynecologist, a BioBands wristband is a safe, simple, effective and inexpensive way of relieving nausea utilizing acupressure – a natural pressure therapy applied to a specific acupuncture point that controls nausea and vomiting. A small bead embedded in the adjustable band presses down on the P6 (Neiguan) point, located three finger widths above the wrist crease between the tendons of the flexor surface of the forearm, approximately in the area of a watchband.

Drug-free BioBands are easy to use and have no side-effects. Simply place the adjustable band correctly on either wrist. A built in bead provides customized pressure at the P6 acupressure point on the underside of the wrist. This gentle pressure interrupts the signals that trigger nausea.
