The iPod phenomenon has transformed the retail market for accessories and cases from a low volume, low margin business, to one that’s thriving. The average consumer once spent 10% or less for a device case, but today’s iPod owner invests $100 or more on fashionable accessories. The iPod effect is emerging in the satellite radio and cellular device market, with consumers who acquire expensive, trendy new gadgets eager to add distinctive accessories and cases to protect them and make a fashion statement.

Speck Products, with the largest collection of iPod accessories on the market, today announced an expanded line-up of cases and accessories to support the growing market for satellite radio devices and cellular phones. Most recently, the company announced accessories to support new XM radio devices, including SkinTight rubberized cases for Samsung NeXus™, and leather cases for Samsung Helix™ and Pioneer Inno™.

“The iPod phenomenon has transformed the market for accessories and cases from what was once a low volume, low margin business, to one that’s thriving, and that retailers wholeheartedly support,” said said Tim Hickman, general manager of Speck. “Whereas the average consumer once spent just 10% or less for a device case, today’s iPod owner invests $100 or more on fashionable accessories for each device purchased. That same same iPod effect is emerging in the satellite radio and cellular device market, with consumers who acquire expensive, trendy new gadgets eager to add distinctive accessories and cases to protect them and make a fashion statement.”

Speck’s expanded portfolio includes dozens of cases and accessories in a variety of colors, textures, shapes and materials for the following products:

·Cellular Phones and Devices. Style and function are evident throughout Speck’s cellular line-up, with cases for Motorola RAZR, Treo, Rim and Nextel phones that are ideal for work or play. New designs for Motorola’s SLVR, the cell phone/iPod hybrid, will be announced this month.

·Satellite Radio. To enjoy entertainment on-the-go, Speck’s designs feature holsters, carry straps and strong, tear resistant leather or rubberized covers. Sirius and XM Radio fans will enjoy the assortment of colorful options available that are built for docking at home or in the car.

·iPod. From funky designs that feature the latest protective materials, to cases that are both fun and functional, Speck designs and carries the largest selection of iPod accessories and cases on the market today. There is something for everyone and every iPod model, including sporting gear, toys and accessories.

“Just as Speck has built its reputation on being first to market with unique products for the iPod, we are committed to becoming the place consumers turn to for distinctive and stylish accessories and cases for today’s hottest satellite radio devices and cellular phones,” said Mr. Hickman. “The gadget market is hot with innovation, and so is our design team. We’re following key trends and manufacturers, and will continue to deliver cutting edge designs for the mobile market.”
