A month away from its April 2006 national user's meeting, the conference committee at eCommerce Industries, Inc. (ECI"), wanted something different to kick off the first 10-15 minutes of this year's opening session. They wanted an entertaining, behind-the-scenes look at the work ethic, experience, and commitment that ECI" employees have for their customers, and a showcase of new technology being released soon. They found Motion Media Solutions through their partner, BigStep Media, after an online search for videographers in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

"We initially chose them for their level of honesty, professionalism and experience with our industry," said Traci Johnson, ECI" senior vice president. "When we presented our ideas, we were impressed with the questions they asked, the suggestions they made, the examples they showed us, and their unique understanding of our needs and what we wanted to accomplish. The fact that they were able to catch on quickly saved us weeks. And what we got was a team devoted and committed to our project. They have certainly exceeded our expectations."

The initial project involved two and a half days of shooting interviews and candid shots with ECI" employees and customers.

"We were a little concerned about how to overcome the deer-in-the-headlights syndrome," said TereLyn Hepple, ECI" Web content developer. "Even though we had specific messages we wanted the video to weave together, we didn't want anyone to look stiff, uncertain, or rehearsed. Ben and Ross helped our people feel very comfortable, conducting each interview as a simple conversation about the things our people cared about. We teamed up people to take advantage of the group dynamic so they didn't have to concentrate so much on looking into the camera. The experience was surprisingly fun. And we ended up with a huge amount of material. Even though it wouldn't all fit in the final cut of the video, it gives us excellent fodder for future newsletter articles, software tutorials, and Web site content. Well worth the whirlwind adventure of producing the video."

The 12-minute video launched April 21, 2006, in an opening session packed with more than 400 conference attendees.

"It was absolutely what we envisioned from the start, and more," said Ron Books, ECI" senior vice president. "The great high-energy music, animations, candid shots, and comments from employees and customers all capture the theme of taking business to the next level."

ECI" extended the contract with Motion Media Solutions to add new conference footage and interviews, and boil the video down to a five-minute version suitable for general audiences other than existing customers.

"It's exactly the message I want to get across," said Dan Pritchard, ECI" president and CEO.
