Langhorne, PA (PRWEB) May 8, 2006
The Oxford Valley Mall Teen Board, http://www.teenboard.com, is conducting a food drive and area wide campaign to help end child hunger in the United States.
Nearly 14 million children in the United States do not know where their next meal is coming from. The problem of childhood hunger is not simply a moral issue. Scientific evidence suggests that hungry children are less likely to become productive citizens. A child who is unequipped to learn because of hunger and poverty is more likely to be poor as an adult. As such, the existence of childhood hunger in the United States threatens future American prosperity.
In conjunction with Simon Super Chefs Live! at Oxford Valley Mall, the Teen Board will be accepting cash and non-perishable food donations at the mall on Sunday, May 21st from 11AM - 5:00PM. The Teen Board will have a donation center located on the Upper Level off Macy's Court to accept donations from the community. All funds and food collected will go to support local food banks in the America's Second Harvest Food Network.
Teen Board is initiating a campaign in the local area elementary, middle and high schools to start food collections running May 1st through May 21st. Students, representing area schools, will collect food and cash donations to be dropped off at the Mall on Sunday, May 21st during Simon Super Chefs Live!
The top two schools (one school with under 1000 students and one school with over 1000 students) which collect the most non-perishable food items or cash donations will win an appearance by a Q102 "on-air" personality as well as Rita's Water Ice for the entire school! You may collect food and cash donations beginning May 1st at your school. All final collections must be dropped off at Oxford Valley Mall only on May 21, 2006 from 11am - 5pm for inclusion in this contest. Cash donations will be tallied as 1 food item for every $1.00 collected.
Schools and organizations may register their participation as well as track their donations on line at http://www.teenboard.com
