Judges Vote Peerflix Award Winner in "Sales/eCommerce" Category

Peerflix (], the leading peer-to-peer (P2P) network that allows members to legally trade DVDs online, today announced that it received a Horizon Interactive Award. The fifth annual international competition recognized excellence in interactive media production among multi-media developers worldwide. Peerflix was recognized for their excellence with a Silver Medal award in the Sales/eCommerce category.

“The Horizon Interactive Awards winners are at the top of their class. All of the winners this year exemplify the highest standard for interactive media development,” said Mike Sauce, founder of the Horizon Interactive Awards. “It is truly amazing to see the level of creativity, craftsmanship and artistry on display among this year’s winners.”

The online DVD trading site was chosen from among the hundreds of entries to receive the Award based on demonstrated excellence in creative concept, artistic excellence, and technical execution. Judges of the competition came from diverse industry backgrounds, including multi-media, graphic design and marketing.

“Peerflix is thrilled to receive the Horizon Interactive Award," said Peerflix representative Dan Henig. "It’s great to see a panel of such highly respected judges recognize Peerflix as a leader in the DVD online market and it is an honor to see the Peerflix name next to such notable brands as Dell and Nike.” Henig ended his comments by saying, “Our platform has been designed to empower the user by giving them a legal and scalable way to get DVDs cheap. This is an advantage that we believe we have over membership-based online rental services such as Netflix or Blockbuster.”

Peerflix offers a peer-to-peer online trading platform for physical media. In its first application, the system allows users to trade used DVDs across a large, distributed network, keeping their DVD collection dynamic and fresh. Peerflix itself carries no inventory and does not participate in the transaction: it simply matches people and products while optimizing for trade speed, frequency, and geography. The company transfers its low overhead directly to customers by only charging $0.99 for each trade facilitated by its system. Since its 2004 launch, Peerflix has been steadily building its customer base and site inventory and today is the leading online destination for DVD owners to trade their DVDs online.
