Farrell Fischoff Gallery hosts a digital art exhibition of new works by 12 artists from New Mexico and beyond, May 19 - June 19 2006. The exhibition will include audio & video installations as well as digital prints. An opening reception will be held Friday, 19 May 5-7:30PM.

Santa Fe, NM (PRWEB) May 7, 2006 -- Farrell Fischoff Gallery is pleased to host a digital art exhibition of new works by 12 artists from New Mexico and beyond. Entitled "Digital Art: 2006 - Prints · Video · Audio", the exhibition opens May 19, 2006 and runs through June 19. An opening reception will be held on Friday, May 19th from 5:00PM - 7:30PM.

Expanding on last year's successful "Digital Art 4" exhibition of works on paper, this year's exhibition will include audio & video installations as well as digital prints. Additionally, the gallery will exhibit 5 selected digital pigment ink prints from Santa Fe Editions in co-operation with Gary Mankus, owner and master printer.

Digital Prints:

Arlene Becker, a participant in last year's Digital Art 4 show, returns to Farrell Fischoff Gallery with new photo-based works. Her extensive European travels last year have expanded her visual materials. Lunch with Picasso playfully invites the audience to share a meal with the artist's creations. At The Station imparts a remarkable sense of movement and stillness simultaneously that exemplifies the digital enhancement process. Ursula Freer, author and award-winning digital artist will show her latest layered digital images of unusual and provocative landscapes. Gregory Kucera was born and raised in Santa Fe and now lives in Los Angeles. He is one of the younger group of digital artists that is receiving wider recognition, including major solo exhibitions and museum acquisitions. Kucera will be exhibiting his latest Ultrachrome prints in the show. Bomi Parakh digitally enhances photographs, simplifying and flattening color and form to expose the latent meanings in the artwork. Paul Wilkins creates his imaginative and colorful abstracts directly from the computer, very often composed of repeating fractal and geometric patterns.

Video & Audio:

Nick Deamer, a recent graduate of the College of Santa Fe's Moving Image Arts program, is a protegé of and assistant to video artist Woody Vasulka, who is currently engaged with a major installation in Germany. Deamer will install one of his own projects, a shifting video of computer-generated grids projected onto the walls of the gallery. Appearances can be deceptive, and Deamer examines perception and illusion in this artwork.

Running concurrently with the video, digital audio compositions by renowned audio artist Bruce Papier will synchronize with the projected images. The subtle ambient audio works of Papier will also be exhibited with smaller video presentations throughout the course of the exhibition.

CD's of all the video and audio installations will be available for sale as signed, limited edition artworks.

Santa Fe Editions:

Raphaëlle Goethals - encaustic-seeming prints with a glowing, 3-D depth; Joe Novak - explorations of light and color rooted in luminous abstraction and monochromatic surfaces; Gustavo Rivera - Mexican artist, colorful abstractions in the tradition of Latin American artists; Johnnie Winona Ross - minimalist works that capture a sense of serenity and stillness; Paul Shapiro - from the meditative, Quantumscape Series.
