Making it Easy for Customers and Partners to e-Sign Over the Web - The 4th in a Series of Whitepapers from Silanis

Silanis Technology, the industry's most experienced electronic signature provider with more than two million users in business and government, today released a new whitepaper on its online electronic signature resource center. Entitled "Electronic Signing Features for the Web", the whitepaper outlines the features required by a web-based, electronic signing solution to ensure high adoption amongst customers, partners and employees.

Montreal (PRWEB) May 10, 2006 -- Silanis Technology, the industry's most experienced electronic signature provider with more than two million users in business and government, today released a new whitepaper on its online electronic signature resource center. Entitled "Electronic Signing Features for the Web", the whitepaper outlines the features required by a web-based, electronic signing solution to ensure high adoption amongst customers, partners and employees.

"People turn to the Internet for speed and convenience. If transactions become too complex, they will simply abandon the process," says Richard Warren, Chief Executive Officer of Silanis Technology. "Organizations looking to move their document review and signing processes to the web have to make them easier than in the paper world, otherwise there is no incentive for people to change."

The most critical feature for promoting high user adoption, according to Warren, is the ability to present electronic documents for review directly within the user's web browser, and to enable people to electronically sign the documents by simply clicking on an "I agree" or "sign here" button.

"Web processes that require people to download or install additional software on their systems interrupt the transaction and create a barrier to adoption," adds Warren. "For web signing to become as ubiquitous as pen and paper, the solution should enable people to review and sign documents using nothing more than their web browser."

However, in making web processes easy, organizations must still make sure that they comply with all applicable laws and regulations, and provide reliable electronic evidence should the transaction or agreement ever be disputed. The solution, adds Warren, is a new form of digital signature called an electronic process signature.

"An electronic process signature captures and stores the entire sequence of events, the content that was displayed and the buttons a user clicked as part of the web transaction," explains Warren.

The resulting "electronic evidence" is linked to the final transaction documents, and, in the case of a dispute, can then be used to reliably and accurately reproduce the transaction exactly as it occurred over the web.

Electronic process signatures are discussed in more detail in Silanis' whitepaper, along with many other features driven by user adoption and business requirements. All previously released whitepapers can also be accessed by visiting Silanis' electronic signature resource center located at:
