An ex-maths’ teacher and father of three has created a new website to tackle parents’ fears over internet safety for children.

Website Boffin (websiteboffin.co.uk) has been launched to help children have fun building their own websites while learning in a safe online environment.

Like many parents, Mr. Ian Fisher (Managing Director of Fisher Educational Ltd.) is concerned about the risks his children face when using the internet and other on-line services.

When conducting research into his new educational web-building business, Mr. Fisher was horrified at just how easy it was to get to hold of children’s personal information via the Internet.

Talking about his findings, Mr. Fisher said, “You hear of some terrible cases about teenagers who have been bullied on-line and exposed to offensive material.

“Parents should be concerned. It is so easy to access pictures of children with their names and addresses attached. It is even possible to find out what school they go to, who their friends are and in some cases where they are going to meet.

“When we created our children’s website building service, we decided to put child safety at the top of our agenda.

“As an ex-teacher, I appreciate what a fantastic educational tool the Internet is. But I also fully understand how it can be used to exploit unsuspecting children.

“The parental controls we’ve created are simple to use and very robust. This means parents can decide who sees their children’s website, and they can also monitor their emails as well.

“With Website Boffin, children can now learn how to build their own websites, play games and share information, gossip and photos with their friends, while their parents have the piece of mind knowing that their kids are totally safe.”

WebsiteBoffin.co.uk is a web-building resource for children aged between eight and 15. It is essentially an on-line facility enabling children to learn about websites and how the Internet works.

The central idea driving the business is that anyone can create their own attractive, professional website without any previous technical knowledge.
