Fort Lauderdale, FL (PRWEB)May 5, 2006 -- South Florida Commuter Services (SFCS) and municipal and South Florida transportation leaders will announce how they will be leading by example and taking the 2006 Commuter Challenge May 18th toward permanently reducing traffic congestion and fuel costs. Some will be car pooling, others walking while others will be participating in a "symbolic ride" at designated transportation hubs in South Florida.

Transportation officials and mayors will also be announcing:
1. Details of the Commuter Challenge day (May 18) and where leaders will be
2. Efforts to improve transportation overall in South Florida as traffic becomes even more congested and gas prices continue to soar, increasing commuting costs.
3. Miami Heat partnership with sports figure, who will be car pooling with a South Floridian
4. Introducing winner of last year?s Commuter Challenge for discussion of how Challenge participation has changed driving habits.
