Embracing the spirit of gratitude, Good Hand Arts, the online arts fair at http://www.GoodHandArts.com/, celebrates its third year of operation with a month-long sale and arts giveaway. This week’s winners, E. Momich of VA, G. Johnson from GA, and D. Maye from GA, not only received 20 percent off their purchases, but also won unique, handmade gifts donated by Good Hand Arts artists: jeweler Rebecca Ottensmann, painter Dasa Bausova and polymer clay artist Jodie Flowers.
“Just like the 20 percent off sale on every purchase, the art giveaways are our way of saying thank you to our loyal customers for supporting our efforts and our artists,” said website designer and artist Mona Pennypacker. “The site has grown tremendously over the last three years and we are thrilled to see people supporting our vision.”
The vision that united Pennypacker and computer professional Judy Schaefer was that of a modern, online version of the craft fair that would not only provide a venue for artists to sell their work but a place for shoppers worldwide to purchase affordable and unique handmade items.
“I live in a remote mountain town in Colorado and I have a passion and appreciation for handmade items,” said Schaefer. “So the site evolved from my professional desire to launch an e-commerce business and my personal desire to support artisans. Crafts fairs are incredible venues to find unique gifts, but they are hard work for the artists and only reach a limited audience. Our vision was to join the best of the Internet technology with the handmade, heartfelt and beautiful creations of artists around the country.”
Currently Good Hand Arts carries 1,500 original, handcrafted products from nearly 100 artists, with new items added weekly. Jewelry, fiber arts, cards, prints, home décor, fine art and more can be found at this one-of-a-kind marketplace.
Like any marketplace, Good Hand Arts knows that great products are only part of the equation—customers are essential to materializing their vision. To thank shoppers, all purchasers that enter “celebrate” during checkout will receive a 20 percent discount and be entered for weekly drawings of items donated by the site’s artists. During the week of May 8, customers can win a poetry and watercolor print by Terri St. Cloud, a sculptural photo holder by Jodie Flowers and a handcrafted luxury soap package from Tomboy Soap Company. The third week of May features another Flowers sculpture, a silver ring by metalsmith Robyn Rosen and a Carnival painted bottle stopper from Gina Rosencrantz. Rounding out the month will be a Bali necklace by metalsmith Gail de Luca, hammered silver earrings by Marie Archuleta and a print of a pastel painting of Colorado’s stunning Ice Lakes Basin by painter Amy Grogan.
Closing out the sale, two Grand Prizes will be awarded in early June: an elegant and spiritual copper Hamsa mirror by Shahna Lax and a striking yet sensual woven beaded bracelet by artist and New Hampshire state representative Claudia Chase. One will go the shopper who spent the most at the site during May and the other will be chosen at random from all the shoppers during the month. Simply enter “celebrate” during checkout to receive the discount and qualify for the drawings. Then celebrate your support of the personal artistic touch, which enriches the life of both the giver and the receiver.
