Singer and Illusionist Darren Romeo Combats Gas Prices Together with Branson Chambers for a First Ever City-Wide Discount Program for Summer Visitors

As gas prices soar to all-time high levels all across America, one city is combating the crisis by giving its residents and visitors a break. The city of Branson has teamed up with illustionist Darren Romeo and other local businesses to give anyone with a gas receipt discounts on show tickets, restaurants, and more with a program called, Gas Busters.

As gas prices soar to all time high levels, and Americans across the country cut down on their summer vacation budgets this upcoming season, one of the preferred vacation spots in the U.S. is right in the heart of America, Branson, MO. Branson has a record value of new and expanded family attractions, live entertainment venues and amenities in 2006 and the local businesses are ready to welcome all visitors this summer.

In preparation for this vacation season, the Branson/Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce and CVB (“Branson Chambers”) has teamed up with local star, sole of protégé of Siegfried & Roy, Darren Romeo. He is better known to his fans as simply “Romeo”, and star of Siegfried & Roy Present Darren Romeo, the Voice of Magic. Visiting families can save on entertainment costs and sample the wide array of food, culture and entertainment offered in Branson.

Banding together to offer incentives to visitors, Branson Chambers has announced the creation of the Gas Busters Promotional Program. This program is a ground-breaking endeavor by Branson Chambers and local celebrities such as Romeo, to endorse a city-wide discount initiative specifically designed to off-set extra dollars that families have been paying for the rising cost of gas. By participating in the Gas Busters Promotional Program, local area businesses offer discounts to patrons holding the Gas Busters card.

Patrons receive a Gas Busters card by presenting a valid driver’s license and a minimum of $40 in gas receipts incurred within 48 hours of their arrival at one of the Chamber’s two Welcome Centers. Gas Buster card holders will then be able to receive discounts on everything from show tickets to lodging, restaurants and retail stores. Also, Gas Buster card holders will automatically qualify to win one of 22 weekly drawings for a $100 gas card and the grand prize 4 day/3 night vacation for four to Branson, MO, which will be awarded on September 30, 2006.

“I want to lend a helping hand in what I consider to be a nation-wide crisis,” said Darren Romeo. “It is just disheartening what is happening to Americans due to rising gas prices. Families can’t afford to take their kids on road trips, go to shows, or eat out, all due to the fact that it is simply too costly to drive these days. With the Gas Busters Promotional Program we are saying to families, that in Branson, we share the burden with you and will do what we can for everyone to have a good time this summer without breaking the bank. Romeo is no stranger to the automotive industry. In February of 2006, Romeo, being a big fan of cars and racing, entered into a partnership with NASCAR and Jeff Gordon whereby the famous #24 car appears nightly in front of a live audience on Siegfried & Roy Present Darren Romeo, the Voice of Magic at the Welk Resort Theater. This partnership is a first between NASCAR and an illusionist of any sort on a nightly live show.

Aside from performing on stage every night, Romeo will also be appearing in “Branson Landing” on June 16, 2006, where he will be the official spokesperson for the launch of this $450 million mega-complex complete with residences, retail shops, dining, recreation, entertainment and relaxation that come together by the waterside.

About Darren Romeo

Named after music legend Bobby Darin, Darren Romeo, better known to his fans as “Romeo”, grew up to the songs of his namesake and other music legends. However, his first love was magic. It wasn't until high school that Romeo discovered his passion for singing, through leading roles in musicals including Bye Bye Birdie and Pippin.

It was his musical theatre dramatics that eventually led to his unique approach to the performance of magic. Acknowledging that there’s something magical about music, Romeo set out to meld the two disciplines.
