Thanks to the "Baby Boomer" generation, today's hot new market has become vintage and collectible toys from the 50's-70's. Recent trends have shown a sharp increase in the appeal of those treasured childhood toys, as more and more "Boomers" clamor to recapture the pleasures and cherished memories of those favorites. Collectors in their 40's and 50's are now responsible for bringing attention back to all the beloved toys from their past.
John Farkas, and Connie Rose of Antiques and Estate Auctioneers are well aware of this new trend. Their upcoming 2-Day Vintage and Collectible Toy auction is a perfect place to find many of those favorite childhood toys. The featured items in this special event come from 2 private collectors, each with a collection of hard to find, high quality toys, spanning the past 50-60 years. The vast quantity of these excellent toys will thrill not only any toy collector, but also anyone who fondly remembers the toys of their own youth.
There will be more than 800 lots of these exciting toys offered for auction. The auction is to held on June 10th and 11th. The live auction will be held at 44777 St. Rt. 18 E. Wellington, OH 44090, or bidders can take advantage of online bidding and bid from the comfort of their own homes by visiting http://www.estateauctioneers.com and following the link to proxibid.com.
The upcoming event features quality examples of friction, wind up, battery operated, and die-cast toys from Marx, Buddy L, Dinky, Midgetoys, Hubley, Disney, Wyandotte, Nyland, ERTL, Matchbox, and Hot Wheels. I know that most of us who are now in our 40's and 50's wish that we had even saved any of our old favorites, and surprisingly many of these collectible toys presented for auction are still in their original boxes.
Many of us can remember the days of .10, .12 and .15 comic books, but sadly, we did not hold on to those treasures from our younger days. There is something special to be found for any comic book lover or collector, including dozens of excellent vintage comics of that .10-.15 era, as well as many .20-.35 comics, and some very special, limited edition sealed comic books from more recent years that also include Certificates of Authenticity.
Another fond memory for many toy collectors is the joy and fun that they had while playing with the wonderful lithographed tin toys of their childhood. Besides the well-known names of Marx, J. Chein, Wolverine, and Modern Toys, the newer Japanese and Chinese versions of these great tin mechanical toys are achieving great popularity in today's market. Many examples of the tin mechanical toys, such as robots, space vehicles, space men, friction and wind up cars, animals and bugs can be found in the upcoming auction, and once again, many of them are in their original boxes, perfect to add to any collection.
Vintage television and movie characters are another popular area for collectible toys. Many of them can also be found in the upcoming event, such as Flintstones, the Jetsons, Star Wars, E.T. The Extraterrestrial, The Lord Of The Rings, Popeye, Walt Disney's Mickey Mouse, and Winnie the Pooh. Other old favorite collectibles were the must-have toys at the time, such as Furbies, GI Joe Action Figures, Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars. All those items, including those hard to find Hot Wheels Redline wheel cars, (many in unopened packages) will also be presented for auction.
The auction also features dozens of wonderful high quality cars, trucks, army vehicles and figurines, construction and farms vehicles, and model train sets by all the best names in vintage and collectible toys. These include Hubley, Tonka, Dinky, Nyland, Wyandotte, Structo, Heiliner, Marx, Marklin, Doepke, Model Toys, Danbury Mint, Coca Cola, Britains, and ERTL.
