Learning Software Suite Nominated for SIIA CODiE Award

Montreal, Canada (PRWEB) May 12, 2006 -- Integration New Media (INM), Don Johnston Inc. and Trolltech teamed up today to announce that Don Johnston’s SOLO Learning Software has been nominated for a 2006 Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) CODiE Award in the “Best Instructional Solution: Special Needs Students” category.
Presented by the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA), the CODiE Awards celebrate achievement and vision in software, education technology and digital content. The “Best Instructional Solution: Special Needs Students” category recognizes solutions specifically designed to benefit students with unique educational needs, including those with physical or learning disabilities or those who are gifted and talented in preK-12 or post-secondary.
SOLO is designed to help students improve their reading, research, and essay writing skills. SOLO combines four key modules: Read:OutLoud, Write:OutLoud, Draft:Builder and Co:Writer into a single, integrated suite that students can use to complete reports, essays and research papers. With an emphasis on interactivity, SOLO builds the skills necessary for the information age by helping students organize their thoughts and incorporate them into their writing projects.
In the creation of SOLO, Don Johnston teamed up with INM for its programming and technical development expertise. The two companies then selected Trolltech’s Qt® development framework to ensure ultimate flexibility and allow SOLO to run seamlessly on each of the major operating platforms. By choosing Qt technology, INM developers could write a single-source application that runs natively on Mac OS and Windows without additional programming and with each platform’s genuine look and feel. INM was also able to extend Qt to accommodate for custom functionality in record time. Trolltech’s Qt 4 was also nominated for the awards in two categories: Best Open Source Solution and Best Software Development Solution.
