Atlanta, Georgia (PRWEB) May 12, 2006 -- JoeRockhead.com (http://www.joerockhead.com), an independent online record shop catering to knowledgeable, forward-thinking music fans, is pleased to announce its Grand Opening. Showcasing a discriminating selection of indie rock, power pop, Americana, folk, garage, and punk, JoeRockhead.com shines the spotlight an eclectic assortment of non-mainstream artists.

To celebrate the occasion, JoeRockhead.com is offering 99¢ same-day shipping on orders of any size shipping to a US address. Similar flat rate shipping is available to other countries as well: $1.99 to Canada and Mexico, and $4.99 to Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zealand. In all, JoeRockhead.com is currently shipping new music to a total of 18 countries.

"A number of companies are doing a fine job on the web with mainstream, mass-market music retail," says founder and 'Chief Rockhead' Steve Pilon. "But mainstream retailers just never dig deep enough into the nooks and crannies of rock-n-roll, and that's always where you end up finding the really good stuff. The best indie shops develop a strong sense of community, and have a personal touch that helps their customers discover great new bands. That's exactly the type of store we aim to build with JoeRockhead.com."

It is an opportunity tailor-made for Pilon, having had a lengthy career in the music industry before branching out in 2000 and starting up Code18 Interactive Design, the Atlanta-based creative shop that designed and developed JoeRockhead.com. In the late '80s/early '90s, he worked for pioneering Atlanta indie label DB Recs (The Jody Grind, Uncle Green, The Reivers...) Later, he co-founded the eclectic indie label Long Play Records (Big Fish Ensemble, Kelly Hogan, Smoke...) and the spunky regional music magazine "Stomp And Stammer" -- a well-respected publication still going strong in its 10th year.

JoeRockhead.com carries a wide selection of independent music on CD from leading American labels such as Bloodshot Records, Matador Records, Daemon Records, SubPop, Barsuk, Secretly Canadian, Norton Records, DualTone, Yep Roc, Polyvinyl, SpinArt, and many others.
