The ‘3R of Action’ is A Signature for Leadership in Life
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) May 12, 2006 -- Internationally-renowned motivational speaker, Cheryl D. Scales, travels to Piney Woods Country Life School, one of only four historically black boarding schools in the nation, as keynote speaker for their spring-themed summit, “Is It Really Worth It?” Scales brings her energizing unique gifts to all ages and expects to speak with almost 300 students on Friday, May 12, 2006. Scales said, “These are amazing students who stand at an important crossroads where their presence at Piney Woods gives them opportunity as future contributors, and the ‘3rd R’ of their actions can help them achieve their signature as leaders in society.” CBS’s 60 Minutes, former UN Ambassador Andrew Young, and television talk show host Oprah Winfrey, who donated $43,000, have bestowed national acclaim on Piney Woods because they represent an important model where rules, results, and support are important bookmarks of the success of these students.
More than 90 percent of Piney Woods’ students attend college at state schools and Ivy League schools. This is an impressive record of accomplishment because the school has been described as “about as no-nonsense as education gets in this country.” The mission of Piney Woods is to provide education and educational opportunities for youngsters from lower socioeconomic backgrounds with the understanding that all students can learn.
Program summits are designed to provide information and stimulate dialogue on the issues facing their youth in various areas including their future, safe sex and abstinence, and many other topics. “This is a fabulous chance for youth to gain more information and motivation on important decisions for their lives,” said Arneatha Shoto, Academic Coordinator.
