Batteries Plus `Powers Up’ National Franchise with eCommerce Launch

Nation’s largest battery retail chain offers new online options for customers.

Hartland, Wis. (PRWEB) May 15, 2006 -- The nation’s largest retail battery chain is about to boost its power even more with a major “charge” to its business model. Already 260 stores strong and growing, Batteries Plus launched its e-commerce Web site on May 1, 2006, building on its strong street presence with new online shopping capabilities.

With the addition of online product ordering capabilities and other user-oriented features to www.batteriesplus.com, Batteries Plus – already the largest U.S. retail chain focused solely on battery products and services for consumers and commercial establishments – is poised to grab an even bigger share of the $22 billion battery category. Currently, Batteries Plus has 260 open locations in 39 states and Puerto Rico and 115 additional stores in development.

“The nation’s increasing reliance on electronic devices and batteries has contributed to explosive growth for Batteries Plus,” said CEO Russ Reynolds. “Now, to continue to keep pace with market demand and consumer trends, we have created a functional and recognizable addition to our online presence that will ultimately connect current and new customers to our stores through eCommerce.

Now that we’ve successfully established the brick and mortar part of our brand, merging the eCommerce element is a natural progression. It will take us to the next level.”

Over the last 18 years, Batteries Plus has developed a stronghold in communities nationwide with a distinctive niche that offers a comprehensive selection of batteries, battery-related products and technical support. Now, the completely revamped BatteriesPlus.com web site will provide online product ordering capabilities; an extensive database of batteries and accessories to search from; and additional physical store information.

Reynolds said the new eCommerce Web site utilizes the latest standard functionality to provide a user-friendly, intuitive experience to search products, purchase online, or find additional information pertaining to Batteries Plus. He noted that Batteries Plus created the eCommerce portion of the Web site through careful research, ensuring customer satisfaction with online ordering capabilities. The Web site will include an efficient checkout process, customer management, wish list capabilities, online order history and an easy reorder process.

“We know that many people use online eCommerce Web sites for researching a product. Their next step is to visit the store and make the purchase,” Reynolds said. “Logically, the addition of the eCommerce component to BatteriesPlus.com will generate more foot traffic at our stores, as well as provide an outlet for new customers to learn about Batteries Plus and purchase items from their homes. It’s another way to connect customers to our products.”

BatteriesPlus.com will offer more than 1,000 items online, available for delivery to customer’s home or business. Products include literally thousands of batteries for thousands of items, including batteries for laptop computers, cell phones and digital cameras.
