The Daily Perspective now Available via RSS
Today's headlines in history can now be delivered to your desktop
(PRWEB) May 15, 2006 -- The Daily Perspective, a free electronic publication from NewspaperARCHIVE.com that connects today’s headlines in history to newspaper articles from the past, is now available via RSS (Really Simple Syndication). To view the feed in your RSS Aggregator, just copy http://news.newspaperarchive.com and paste the URL in your reader.
"More people are turning to RSS feeds as a way to manage the information they receive on a daily basis, so it only makes sense to also make The Daily Perspective available via RSS," said Jeff Kiley, General Manager of NewspaperARCHIVE.com.
With an RSS Aggregator, readers can easily scroll through and view headlines in history that interest them. Then, just like the online version of The Daily Perspective (www.dailyperspective.com), a link will connect the reader to a historical newspaper page from NewspaperARCHIVE.com. For example, today in 1911, Standard Oil was declared an unreasonable monopoly. An article from May 15, 1911, detailing the Supreme Court's decision about Standard Oil is then linked to the headline in the RSS feed. Many RSS Aggregators allow you to store several days' worth of content, so you can easily scroll through summaries from the entire week or save particular articles for research projects.
"Whether you're interested in newspaper articles from the roaring 20s or the psychedelic 60s, The Daily Perspective allows you to read about our history and reflect on past events and even link them to our lives today," said Ashley Martin, a writer for The Daily Perspective.
A scrolling RSS feed of The Daily Perspective is also available for display on any website. An example of this can be found at the bottom of NewspaperARCHIVE.com. For more information on how to place the scrolling feed on your website or blog, email news(at)newspaperarchive.com.
"The scrolling RSS feed is really fascinating," said Phil Shaff, a member of Network Support for NewspaperARCHIVE.com. "It's a great addition to any website about news, history or pop culture."
The Daily Perspective was created in April 2005 by Chris Gill, founder of www.NewspaperARCHIVE.com, who believed that modern day journalism was missing something important – history. Mr. Gill sensed that with the right team and the right tools, the void that had developed in news reporting and analysis could be filled, ultimately creating a well-rounded, intelligent and informative synopsis of current events in history.
